As a result, we use several different solutions for a variety of workplace software solutions. Using those solutions comes in several different forms of remote access.

The most important part of remote access is security. We must setup VPN or 2-Factor security to make sure that hackers are circumvented.

At a time when the United States is unnerved, nefarious hackers have invidious plans to encrypt computers and steal money.

The Solutions That We Use At San Diego Computer Consulting Are Varied.

Office 365

We use Office 365 for our business email solutions. Office 365 provides the corporate email back end for our business. We use Outlook as the front-end interface for our email.

Office 365 allows us to get to our email, contacts, calendar, and tasks from anywhere and on any device. Of course, any change done on one device is replicated to all devices and the web.

We use SharePoint to access shared files on all our devices. This is similar to Dropbox.

With SharePoint you have different libraries. Each library is a master share much like a mapped drive. Each Library is set for rights for specific users. We are then able to have files on the web and our user’s machines simultaneously.

This is a very nice system that allows us to alleviate the need for a large file server. By having the files on the secured web through Office 365, it gives us quick access to information.

We use SharePoint in two capacities:

One Drive for personal use: With One Drive you can copy or move your personal data to One Drive. Moving your personal data gives you a backup of that data in the cloud. It also allows you to access your personal data anywhere.

SharePoint (One Drive for Business): Is a Separate connection for your shared business files. SharePoint allows you to share your files with your office peers. Again, we use this and make libraries to separate master file shares.

Office 365 Business premium comes with several great features.   SharePoint and One Drive are a big part of the many features that makes remote computer very feasible and easy.

SharePoint is an excellent solution for file services. SharePoint is a service that comes with Microsoft Business Premium plan. This same plan is the service that comes with an email account and the Microsoft Office Applications.

SharePoint is an excellent cloud solution that allows you to have access to your office files on your office workstation, Laptop, iPad, and Smartphone.
SharePoint is an excellent new solution that is provided by Microsoft Azure cloud services. This service is a full cloud offering that connects your office files in the cloud via space provided by Microsoft.

The SharePoint cloud service is protected by Microsoft 2-Factor authentication. We can control file access and rights and the files that are allowed on laptop and personal computers. SharePoint is secured and files will be removed upon revocation of rights.

San Diego Computer Consulting requires Microsoft 2-Factor on SharePoint access. This means that even if someone has your email address and password, they still cannot get access to your SharePoint data files until you approve that access via 2-Factor approval on your smartphone.

San Diego Computer Consulting implements Office 365 backup solutions provided by SolarWinds, Inc. on all SharePoint users that we support. We strongly believe that all cloud solutions should not be totally dependent on one cloud basket.

We use Windows Remote Desktop to access our machines at the office. Remote Desktop is built into every copy of Windows Professional. Windows remote desktop is an excellent service.

This service is very easy to use and gets you directly into your desktop at work. This service is very responsive and quick. It is built into Windows and once locked down with 2-Factor it is totally secure.

Windows Remote Desktop is quite powerful. You can cut and paste files, map drives, share printers and scanners. It is really a powerful package and has no cost for its inherent robust solutions. Windows Remote Desktop was designed to allow you to work remotely and have full capacity to your office computer and network.

One of our favorite features of Windows Remote Desktop is that it allows you to see all your monitors remotely. If you have 3 monitors at work, and three at home, you can remote in and have all three monitors on your remote screen. Having access to all your monitors remotely is a big deal and really allows you to be productive.
