SDCC is involved with the fishing anglers community at the Southwestern Yacht Club. My father was a lifetime member at the yacht club. He ran the SWYC Dock Fishing tournament for many long years. Now that my father has passed my brother and I run the tournament.
Bernard Jaffe Memorial Dock Fishing Tournament
For over 40 years, the Dock Fishing Tournament at Southwestern Yacht Club has been a cherished tradition. Generations of children have taken part, casting lines and reeling in memories that last a lifetime. Every single one of them is a winner.
This tournament is more than just fishing—it’s about connection, mentorship, and joy. My father, Bernard Jaffe, had a deep love for fishing, but his greatest passion was teaching kids. There was nothing he loved more than watching a child’s face light up after catching their first fish. His spirit lives on in every laugh, splash, and wide-eyed moment by the dock.
Reelentless Fishing Boat
The Reelentless, a Skipjack 35, is our company’s pride and joy. During the summer and fall seasons, you’ll find us on the water nearly every weekend, chasing Tuna, Dorado, and Yellowtail. We actively compete in local fishing tournaments hosted by the Marlin Club and Southwestern Yacht Club.
Fishing in San Diego is more than just a pastime—it’s part of our DNA. As a San Diego-born company made up mostly of native locals, we have deep roots in this incredible city. The ocean fuels our spirit, and fishing is a core part of who we are
Southwestern Yacht Club Anglers
Glen Jaffe: 2 Year President of the Southwestern Anglers Board
Glen Jaffe proudly serves as President and Webmaster of the Southwestern Anglers Board—a passionate committee dedicated to elevating our community’s fishing skills and fostering a lifelong love for the sport.
Under the umbrella of SWYC Anglers, we organize engaging seminars, exciting tournaments, festive award dinners, and social events that bring local fishing enthusiasts together. But beyond the fun and camaraderie, our purpose runs deeper.
We’re a philanthropic angling group with a heart for education. Our core mission is to raise funds and provide opportunities to teach children how to fish, passing on skills, values, and a love for the ocean that lasts a lifetime.
SDCC Believes in Bolstering and Teaching Fishing to Kids
Fishing for a Better Future: SDCC’s Commitment to Community
Fishing is woven into the fabric of San Diego—it’s more than a pastime, it’s part of our coastal culture. At SDCC, we’re proud to support “Fishing for Kids,” a program that introduces young people to the joys of angling and the wonders of the ocean.
Through our close partnership with Southwestern Yacht Club, we actively help foster youth engagement in fishing by teaching essential skills like knot-tying, techniques, and styles. Helping the next generation develop confidence and mastery on the water is a mission we take to heart.
As the Yacht Club’s trusted IT partner, we also support their annual Bottom Fishing Tournament—a fundraising event benefiting Friends of Rollo, a nonprofit that gives children, regardless of background, the opportunity to experience deep-sea fishing aboard charter boats.
We believe strongly in the value of outdoor activities for youth. Fishing offers more than just thrills—it builds patience, fosters community, and connects kids with nature in powerful ways. At SDCC, we’re all in when it comes to helping kids cast into brighter futures.
