Green Computing

San Diego Computer Consulting® is committed to helping our customers save energy, reducing eWaste, and making our community a better place to live.

Energy Savings

Todays PCs are more efficient than ever, but there are still more opportunities for improvement. SDCC will set energy savings group policies for our customers at their request, free of charge. We also encourage our customers to purchase systems with the latest vPro technology, which allows machines to be shut off completely and yet still receive necessary maintenance and updates. Workstations and Servers are sold with high efficiency power supplies and we recommend network switches that have green idle port shutdown features. Finally, SDCC often recommends virtual server solutions to our customers that allow for more efficient use of hardware reducing power and waste.

eWaste Program

SDCC employees will be more than happy to collect any eWaste generated by our customers businesses, passing on only any disposal fees charged to us. All internal SDCC eWaste and non-working parts collected from our customers are disposed of at legitimate eWaste collection centers that breakdown and recycle the waste in an environmentally responsible manner.

We will properly decommission your PCs by following stringent United States government data-wiping standards. Then we will refurbish the PCs so instead of ending up in a landfill, these viable PCs will be supplied to businesses, schools, nonprofits, government programs, and other eligible customers that need access to the benefits of technology that they cannot currently afford.

Buy Refurbished

Did You Know?

“The average 24 kg desktop computer with monitor requires at least 10 times its weight in fossil fuels and chemicals to manufacture, much more materials intensive than an automobile or refrigerator, which only require 1-2 times their weight in fossil fuels. Researchers found that manufacturing one desktop computer and 17-inch CRT monitor uses at least 240 kg of fossil fuels, 22 kg of chemicals and 1,500 kg of water - a total of 1.8 tons of materials.”
